Barcelona presidential candidate Joan Laporta has described Arda Turan as "a great player" but admitted that he does not yet know if would veto the attacker's arrival at Camp Nou should he triumph in this month's elections.
It was announced on Monday that they had
agreed a €41 million transfer fee with Atletico Madrid for the Turkey international - but stipulated that the 28-year-old could be returned to the Vicente Calderon at a loss of €4.1m should the new president decide he does not want the versatile winger.
Laporta is an admirer of Arda but revealed that Eric Abidal, whom he intends to appoint as his technical secretary, and coach Luis Enrique would ultimately decide whether the former Galatasaray man completes his move to Catalunya.
"I've spoken with Abidal and, if we win, Eric will talk with coach Luis Enrique and then decide whether or not to ratify the operation once we have studied the contract and all its terms," he is quoted as saying by AS.
"As a fan, of course I like him. He is a great player, no doubt about that, and he is not inconsistent with the other ideas we have in mind."
