Ramsey apologises for lacklustre Arsenal display

Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey has apologised to the club's fans following the 2-0 defeat to Dortmund on Tuesday. The Gunners were outplayed by Jurgen Klopp's side in their Champions League group stage opener, with goals from Ciro Immobile and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang securing a comfortable victory for the hosts. Arsene Wenger's side were fortunate not to concede more goals in what was a lacklustre display by the north Londoners and Ramsey took to Twitter after the match to apologies to the supporters for the team's below-par performance. He wrote: "That wasn't good enough tonight, sorry to all the fans and thank you for your support." Reflecting on the defeat, the Poland international told the club's official website: "It wasn't good. We lost two goals and it was probably lucky that we didn't concede more. They counter-attacked us very well. On another day they probably could have finished more [chances] so it was very disappointing. "That's [Dortmund's fast tempo] no surprise in the Champions League. You get to play against the best teams in Europe. You expect them to play at this pace. We didn't do it well enough so now we need to improve for the second game. "We've got six games to play. We lost the first one, which was an important one, but we've got to pick ourselves up and get some momentum over the next couple of games at home, and hopefully put ourselves in the mix."
