Neymar's Ballon d'Or place costs Barcelona €2 million

Barcelona are to pay €2 million as part of their agreement with Santos. The Brazilian makes up the three nominees alongside Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo following his stunning treble-winning year with Barcelona.

Neymar joined Barcelona in a €57.1m deal from Santos in June 2013 but a clause in that transfer also required the Spanish champions to pay a further €2m once the forward secured a place in the Ballon d'Or top three.

Earlier in November, speculation over the 23-year-old's future at Barcelona was heightened his father claimed that the possibility of a transfer could happen if his son's tax evasion case ended with an unwanted outcome.
