There had been fears that the Argentine would be sidelined forthe Real Madrid clash, which will take place at Santiago Bernabeu on November 21, after he was shown a straight red card for dissent in the 3-1 win last Sunday, but the RFEF has confirmed that will not be the case.
Instead, the 31-year-old will miss La Liga fixtures against Getafe away and Villarreal at home.
Mascherano had seen red for an obscene outburst at a linesman, and had faced a suspension of up to four games.
The Competitions Committee of the Spanish Federation, however, lowered the punishment. The Barcelona man's language was deemed an act of contempt by the RFEF's disciplinary body, and not insulting - hence the lighter sentence.
Barcelona in turn have withdrawn their intention to appeal the decision, and have accepted the two-match sanction that leaves the former Argentina captain free to face Madrid.
