Chad Sentences 10 Boko Haram Members To Death

As regional efforts continue in countering the Boko
Haram insurgency, Chad has sentenced 10 members
of the Islamist militant group, Boko Haram, to death
on terror charges.
The decision was taken after a three-day trial in the
capital N'Djamena.
All 10 men were convicted for their roles in twin
attacks on the capital in June, which claimed the
lives of 38 people.
The attacks were the first by the Nigerian-based
group in Chad, which hosts the headquarters of a
regional force, the Multi-National Joint Task Force,
set up to fight the militants.
In July, it was reported that Security forces in Chad
seized a large weapons cache in a house in
N'Djamena , occupied by suspected members of
Boko Haram.
Chad has played a leading role in a regional
offensive against the armed group this year, in
parallel with forces from Nigeria, Cameroon and
Niger.
