Gary Neville named Valencia manager with brother Phil his assistant

In one of the more shocking managerial moves in recent times, Gary Neville has been appointed manager at Valencia until the end of the season.

The former Manchester United captain-turned-pundit will join brother Phil Neville at the Mestalla, who was appointed former head coach Nuno's assistant manager in the summer.

It will be Gary Neville's first steps into first-team management after coaching experience with England and a host of prominent names in football and sport wished him the best of luck in his move to Spain.

The former Manchester United captain leaves his role as a SkySports pundit to link up with his brother Phil, who has been assistant manager at Valencia since July.

Gary will take charge of his first Valencia match in the Champions League against Lyon next Wednesday (December 9), with Phil assisting caretaker manager Voro for this weekend's match at home to Barcelona before he welcomes his older brother to the Mestalla.
