Van der Wiel angered by Blanc snub

Paris Saint-Germain defender Gregory van der Wiel has accused Laurent Blanc of dropping him without warning for their 2-2 Champions League draw with Chelsea. The 27-year-old was axed from the starting XI in favour of Marquinhos on Wednesday night as PSG booked their place in the quarter-finals on away goals as the tie finished 3-3 on aggregate after extra time. The Dutchman has now revealed his anger at his coach for failing to explain his decision and says he deserves to be treated better. "The coach did not tell me anything about it. This came as a big surprise," Van der Wiel told NOS . "This is not the right way to drop a player. It's not usual to drop someone without explaining it, but apparently that's the way things go here. "It's a real shame that I did not feature from the start, because these are the kinds of games you want to be part of. "It was a crazy game. First the red card for [Zlatan] Ibrahimovic, then we fell behind twice, yet we fought back each time. "I don't think it was a deserved red card. They both went for the ball. Zlatan hit him, but he never had the intention to injure Oscar. "Chelsea were unable to dominate the game, even against 10 men. They don't have a team to dominate and kept gambling on a quick counterattack." Van der Wiel has made 30 appearances in all competitions for PSG so far this campaign. source: goal
