PSG proved Champions League mettle - Verratti

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco
Verratti believes his side proved they
are a great team after
dumping Chelsea out of the last-16 of
the Champions League on away
goals (3-3 aggregate) following a 2-2
draw at Stamford Bridge on
Wednesday.
Laurent Blanc's men were dealt a huge blow when Zlatan Ibrahimovic
was shown a straight red card midway through the first half for a
challenge on Oscar and seemed to be on their way out after Gary
Cahill opened the scoring for Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the 81st
minute.
Nevertheless, David Luiz then sent the game into extra time with a
superb header, before Eden Hazard gave the Blues the lead for the
second time on the night when he slotted home a penalty after Thiago
Silva had handled inside the area.
But it still wasn't enough to see off PSG as the Brazil defender made
amends by going up the other end of the pitch and scoring the
equaliser to send his side through to the quarter-finals on away
goals.
"We played almost all this game with ten men on the pitch against a
great team. But we have proven we're one too," Verratti told Canal+ .
"It was an incredible game. We knew that Chelsea were a great team,
but so are we. We knew we could win this match.
"We have shown at Stamford Bridge that we are a great team.
"It was only a round of 16 game and we still have a long way to go,
but to have made it to the quarter-finals again is amazing.
"We are the same team from the first half of the season, but now is
when the important games are being played. The time has come to
stop talking and play football."
The draw for the quarter-finals takes place in Nyon on March 20.
