Mourinho: Chelsea have no fitness doubts over Remy

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho believes Loic Remy will prove those who doubted his fitness wrong as he gets ready to make his debut for the Blues. The France international striker looked set to join Liverpool before failing a medical with the Anfield outfit amid reports that a heart issue that was initially flagged up by Marseille had resurfaced. But Mourinho has revealed that the medical team at Stamford Bridge were happy with Remy's test results and that there is nothing standing in his way from appearing against Swansea City on Saturday. "The medical should be before the clubs and the players and the agents almost announce a 'done deal'," he told reporters. "If a player loses a medical, or fails a medical, it should be something very, very intimate, very personal between the player and the club. But the way almost every club does it, it looks like the medical is not any more a private situation. "I don't know what the situation with Liverpool was, we don't have their report. Obviously, in this club, medical responsibilities start with Dr Biosca [medical director Paco Biosca]. "He did his job, not on his own, but he surrounded himself with opinions from top specialists in different areas, and the final conclusion was the same conclusion that the French Football Federation medical department had before the World Cup – the player has no problem." Remy was signed following Fernando Torres' departure to AC Milan on a two-year loan deal late in the transfer window, and Mourinho has wished him well while in Serie A. But the former Real Madrid coach believes Remy offers a flexibility that the Spaniard did not and revealed he was always in his thoughts as a possible signing. "Nando [Torres] was a fantastic guy, a fantastic professional. His career here was not super successful but, at the right moment, in important moments, Nando was there many times and gave an important contribution to this club. We like him a lot. "But Remy was one of the players we had in our objectives. Remy is very fast, he attacks spaces, he can play even from the sides like he does for France, coming in from the right or, with Newcastle, from the left." Remy could make his Chelsea debut from the start should Diego Costa be unable to prove his fitness, though Mourinho has claimed that he is confident the forward will have recovered from a hamstring injury suffered while with Spain .
