Actress, Omotola Rebrands EFCC to ‘Economic and Fishing Crime Commission’

Nollywood actress, Omotola Jalade has decided to put
pleasure aside for real talk about the mal-
administration of the Nigerian political sector.
In every country, there are bodies established to
oversee the activities of its citizens in order to ensure
sanity in the society. If we look at the Western
countries, when a political office holder is being
accused of anything, he/she resigns from that position
until the issue is being resolved.
This time, the actress is angry with the officials of the
Economic and Finanacial crimes Commission (EFCC) for
neglecting their duties in investigating both current and ex-
politicians who have been accused one way or the other.
The EFCC recently on September 24th arraigned six
fishermen Adekunle Oshingbosi; Momodu Ibrahim; Idowu
Tuesday; Togbosi Christian; Benjamin Eyinle; Anthony
Medoho, and their company, Oshine Resources Ventures
Limited before a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos for
allegedly fishing in unauthorized waters.
When the 2 count charge of conspiracy and stealing was
read to the men, they pleaded not guilty and applied for bail
through their counsel.
The presiding Judge, Justice Ibrahim Buba granted them bail
in the sum of N10 million each with one surety in like sum
each, who is to produce two recent passport photographs.
They were remanded at the Ikoyi prisons pending when they
meet their bail conditions.
Omotola who is not happy with this development called on
the EFCC to remind them about their duties and go after
political office holders who have embezzled the country's
money without being probe while poor keep suffering.
The actress, responding to her fan's message, described the
EFCC now as 'Economic and Fishing Crime Commission'
calling on them to investigate $9.3m from south Africa, and
stop disturbing fishermen.
